The Huntsville Public Library welcomes you to “A Universe of Stories!” at this year’s Summer Reading Program held from Saturday, June 1 through Friday, July 12. The last official day to turn in your reading log is Friday, July 19. For every three books read or for every library program attended, participants will receive a raffle ticket. Participants can use that raffle ticket to enter for a chance to win a raffle prize. Those who read at least three books will win a guaranteed prize while supplies last. Engage your brain with the fascinating side of chemistry at the Huntsville Public Library. Dr. Jim Pennington will bring the Texas A&M Chemistry Roadshow to the library at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7. This presentation uses “chemical wonders that turn ordinary objects and events into exciting learning experiences.” This presentation is best suited for second grade students to adults. My Grownup and Me
Are you a parent or caregiver looking for tips to style your child’s hair? Are you looking for new ideas for children’s hair styles? Come to “My Grownup and Me” for hair styling classes for children and their caregivers at the Huntsville Public Library. Classes will be taught by Tonya Collum, local salon owner, and will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 and Tuesday, July 9. “My Grownup and Me” is best suited for ages 12 and under with an adult. Get wild at the Huntsville Public Library! Learn about exotic animals with Wild Things Zoofari at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 14 in the Staggs Community Room. Appreciate the beauty of nature at “All About Butterflies” with the Houston Museum of Natural Science presentation at the Huntsville Public Library. Learn about metamorphosis and more in this interactive program with caterpillars and butterflies. Join us on Wednesday, June 19 in the Staggs Community Room. The Houston Museum will present six 30 minute presentations for up to 30 children and their accompanying adults per session.
